The Coimbra University Hospital Centre (CHUC) is the new public provider of hospital healthcare to use Hepic for epidemiological monitoring and surveillance. The project is in the implementation phase across the six hospital units that make up the Hospital Centre: General Hospital, Paediatric Hospital, Coimbra University Hospitals, Bissaya Barreto Maternity Hospital, Dr. Daniel de Matos Maternity Hospital and Sobral Cid Hospital, and will ensure the monitoring of the Hospital Centre's more than 1,900 beds.

Hepic will thus become the main technological tool for the PPCIRA team (Programme for the Prevention and Control of Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance) at this hospital unit.

With the aim of ensuring more effective surveillance, the system will integrate and cross clinical, service and patient data with the Patient Management information systems (HIS), SClínico Hospitalar, LIS and Pharmacy. In addition to ensuring compliance with PPCIRA standards and guidelines, the solution will make it possible to operationalise the Antibiotic Prescription Support programme (PAPA), through a new Hepic module, which will now be implemented at this Hospital Centre.

As CHUC is the largest hospital in the country, the choice of Hepic to address such an important area for patients and healthcare professionals is a source of pride and satisfaction for the entire First team.
