Digital transformation in healthcare continues to advance at ULS Lezíria with the implementation of HEPIC, an innovative platform designed to strengthen epidemiological surveillance and infection prevention.
Until now, the monitoring and analysis of healthcare-associated infections were performed manually. With HEPIC, the Local Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Resistance Program (UL-PPCIRA) can now monitor microorganisms and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles automatically and in real time.
By generating automatic alerts for colonised patients, the system enables earlier intervention and supports rapid decision-making, including the immediate implementation of isolation and containment measures. According to Ana Grais, nurse at UL-PPCIRA, the platform reinforces the institution’s commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
Pedro Teixeira, Head of Information Systems at ULS Lezíria, highlights HEPIC as a major step forward in process monitoring and operational efficiency.
At First Solutions, we are proud to contribute to innovative healthcare projects such as this initiative at ULS Lezíria, supported by the Alentejo2030 programme. HEPIC reflects our mission to develop technology that improves healthcare management and ultimately helps save lives through innovation.
