First won a major project for hospital infections control in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This project covers 70 hospitals, which serve about 10 million people in the state, and will allow monitoring more than 12,000 hospital beds.
The project is based on availability of Hepic in a SaaS model for the 70 health units in the region, thereby enabling the creation and organization of a single database and regional levels for hospital infections control. The objectives are manifold and range from providing information and monitoring incidences of nosocomial infections in real time, allowing early identification of outbreaks and epidemics, as well as the ability to provide control of pathogens in intensive care units and critical areas of public and private hospitals. The support for hospitals in the implementation of infection control measures in real time, the systematization of laboratory techniques for identification of multi-resistant bacteria, rational use of antibiotics and increased scientific production, are other important goals to achieve with this innovative project. According to Filipe Pereira, General Manager of First Solutions Brazil, "the client can monitor what is happening in the hospitals network, and if necessary, take action with each hospital, based on data available in real time by Hepic." The integration of Agfa's PACS solution with First’s RIS it seemed to us very balanced. The implementation was completed in two months, was quick and we were not faced with any problem that had involved any delay. The only problem that now remains, and that is common in these systems, is the efficient use of the voice system, which as we all recognize, requires a long learning process and that only gives off in the long term. More difficult than the implementation was to design a business model for the two areas with two different vendors, which was closed and not allow any surprise about the future costs of the overall solution. In this area as elsewhere, our competitive advantage, as a customer, is how we study the market and the business and how we design the model that we intend to acquire.
Finally, we can say that film no longer exists in Aveiro. The whole process is scanned with an unquestionable improvement in quality. [+]
